Terence Muru

Te Rarawa, Ngati Kuri, Rarotonga

Terence began healing at a young age, coming with me when we were asked to go and work on someone who was frail, ill, in pain, needed massage, an ear to talk to, words of counsel or just having someone close. I would often ask him to walk on someone’s back, put pressure on the shoulders or neck, hold the leg or the energy. It was during this time that I believe Terence learnt a lot about patience, tolerance and being there for some one without reservation.

Terence has a passion for music. As a young child, we would often drive around in the car on a Sunday, with the tape playing classical music. As well we used to watch the Sunday afternoon musicals and opera that were on tv. I don’t think he’s got a taste for that anymore, but it was a building block. As well he has a love of clothes and particularly shoes and is quite a clothes horse. On one journey in a 2 week period he brought 17 pairs of shoes. He wore them all while we were away and upon arriving home sold them to his cousins, even though they were worn. Hmmmm.

Thru a camera lens Terence can visualize something in a micro moment and bring it forth for depth and relationship with the viewer. I’m astounded by what he can see and how he creates it. Widely travelled since his teens, this has given Tee a bigger perspective on life and what it has to offer. So as a fellow healer as well as his Mother, I would have him by my side in any situation.
