Manu
In All His Glory
To the many who have met Manu, he can be very basic, cussy and sometimes downright rude. Yet inside this man, hides a wealth of knowing (knowing and knowledge are two different things).
For this blog, I have posted one of the papers he presented for his ‘Teaching degree’. Because of the subject he chose, and the way he wrote it, the Lecturer wouldn’t consider marking it, nor could she understand what he was saying.
ANTEDILUVIAN
The order of nature is intrinsic, the order of Man is moronic.
Born was I, with a heritage as old as time it self,
validated by matter and substantiated by space.
Inbred was I to a world of duplicity and shame, foul play to infidelity and disloyalty,
fed heavily with deceit and treachery.
However, I know that none of these were present during my own inception to life,
for gifted to one as humble as I, was the choice of free-will.
Who, but the creator himself will determine my destiny,
who but death, shall resolve my fate.
Suckled was I, by that of another, they, who had no idea of my attainments,
or of my future, that was already ordained, not by option or choice was I,
the total embodiment of myself allowed to choose the direction,
that had already been sanctioned by lore.
Mine is the annoyance of many, yet still it is my right to question that,
which be’ith untold.
Educated was I in all the glory that was before me, yet none of this edification was
mine to behold. Was I condemned in knowing, that what was, shell one day ne’er be, or
that which once was, will one day be. Be it neither of hindrance or dereliction, that I
dwell solely in the arms to being a shamed and recreant in that which is mine to
behold, mine to uplift, and mine to restore.
Unaccompanied am I, to linger in death, that which be mine to determine,
or yours to up heave.
If your turn was next would you be ready?
Unaccompanied am I, in sigt, for mine is insight of bewilderment, insight of
befuddlement, insight of heresy, if wonderment were mine to behold, were would it
lie? Would it then be right to say that, I of the knowing, who being lead by the known,
will one day know the difference betwixt the twain?
For untold by the many, is that which is confusing by the majority,
and completed by they, who just do.
Lonely am I, in a world that is not of my upbringing, nor of my acceptance. For I was
lead to believe that the world we live in, is the right one for us to be in, this may be
true, but the world that was denied me, is the world that I desire most, I do not want to
be just in, or a part of,
I want to belong, I want to be there, I need to be there, for may be, just may be, it is
what I have lost, my identity, my people, the greatest gift that I have ever found and
yearned for most of my life.

Kia Ora Manu
As Ata has already said and as I know the image to the World that you present can never paint a picture of the depth of your being. The World has denied you as it has done many of us, engari, you bring a dimension into the world that is understood by few but necessary.
Arohanui ki a koe mai rano
So true my beautiful cousin, so true. I love you, Atarangi
Kia ora friend Manu..
Your hand, so often heavy, belies that deep laugh that illumines the rooms of all houses.
And now, we find that you are a poet, as well.
This one’s admiration and gratitude for your depth of courage and kindness is immeasurable.
Aroha nui,
Loraine
Kia ora Miss Lo-rain,
I will let Manu know, he has a fan or two. Sending love and thanks to you and your wonderful son, Atarangi
I want to belong, I want to be there, I need to be there, for maybe, just maybe, it is what I have lost, my identity, my people, the greatest gift that I have ever found and yearned for most of my life.
Just wanted you to know that your paper touched my soul and inspired me to follow my heart and walk in the footsteps of my ancestors. I have an abundent life full of love, joy and happiness and yet as I wake every morning i feel empty like something is missing. I feel a magnet drawing me towards the Whanganui river and guiding me to gain the knowledge of my ancestors. May the sun continue to shine upon you. Kia Ora, Bronwyn Haitana
And so you will. Also know we are here to help in what small way that we can.
May the calling of the Whanganui River be answered sooner rather than later.
May your ‘emptiness’ within explode with the ripeness that knowing all is yours. Reach out and grasp it, NOW and NOW and NOW.
Keep in touch, arohanui Atarangi.
And you are. The joy of life lies in every moment that we celebrate with conscious awareness of who we are and what we are here for.
For me it is to eat kina and have a great time in my home, my work, my relationships, with my moko all 3 of them and all the rest that life gives to me.
I think I have replied to this before. Some how it has come up as new.
Dear Manu,
First I wanna thank you for the great healing during the Hikoi with Fire Wai Turoa, it is still working after months. When I was walking with my family (wife and baby) you left the Marea, we didn’t say goodbey.
I feel we’ll meet again, anywhere in the world! Till then I hope you have a good time….
blessings William and also from my family
Kia ora William,
This is Atarangi, so I’m replying for Manu and indeed the rest of us. You know it is our pleasure to be able to come and meet wonderful souls like yourself, your wife and your children, and all those awesome people that Aunty Wai brings. It makes the rainbow that more distinctive.
We are glad you are walking well. Where do you live? Are you in Germany? Holland? France? Austria? etc etc etc.
Do stay in touch, and however we can help most willing. If you look in Our Schedule’s you will see we are going to be visiting Europe very soon, so maybe we can meet up after all. For now sending much aroha Atarangi.
All is good at home here in NZ.
Hope the same is there even as you go in to your winter months.
Many blessings always.
I remember when Papa Joe was accused of plagiarism at University because he held wananga for his classmates and we all went into our exams and wrote nearly exactly the same thing because we had studied together all night with the tohunga. I also composed waiata oriori for my language acquisition paper based on one of Papas lectures and while I passed the paper, I was marked down because I did not regurgitate the Western theories, while the lecture Papa gave us came from time honoured child rearing practice thousands of years old. Mihi tenei ki a koutou mahi rangatira. Tu tonu, tu tonu, tu tonu.
Too true, but then again that is what happens when a section of people cannot meet you on an even keel because what is being taught and said, they have no comprehension of. So instead of finding the sources that can mark appropriately, they will give lesser. The university’s that we are truly needing are those taught by nature/nurture and helping fellow beings (two leggeds, four leggeds, winged, finned etc). I’ve got a blog coming up of some of our journeys, sooner rather than later. Arohanui Atarangi.

Kia ora Irena,
Was awesome to see you again recently.
Our time in Sydney was very busy in the end, and people continued to ask for sessions even when we’d departed.
So another visit coming up sooner than expected. We will be in Brisbane in April. Probably only for the weekend, but there none the less.
You take care. Many blessings always Atarangi.
