Every Thursday when we are home in Auckland New Zealand we offer a koha day or what we call our Community Clinic Day. Koha means to gift unconditionally from the heart. No fee is set for any of the work we do on this day.
Thus Maori Healers and supporters offer their services for koha and clients koha or reciprocate knowing that the work they have received has been first class. At times there are several different healing modalities at the Thursday clinic, so a range of services gives people choices. While I showcase Maori Traditional Healing Arts, I’m also aware of other cultures and their concepts and am open to sharing this via the clinic at any time.
I do spoil our pakeke or Elders though. Some we will do an ionic foot bath, or cut their toe nails because they can’t reach there anymore. Others we’ll do a rau miri (leaf/branch massage) or lightly rub their backs, their hands and their feet.
The clinic is open from 10am till the last person is completed. You do not book a time, you just turn up. It is wonderful to see who turns up – visitors from around the world find their way to our Maori Healers Centre.
I would like to add, that we hold this Koha clinic because of the generosity of people that we meet when we travel. They support us by making appointments and seeing us when we are overseas. For that we are grateful and pay homage in this small way.
