The story below talks about Kiwa as a 3 year old child, who wants to help and so gets right in. In this new video you will see him now as a 7 year old soon to be 8 (in August). The changes in Kiwa show in terms of his growth and his being, yet his willingness to support and to learn in this work is just as eager as when he was younger. When Kiwa is around and we're working, he loves being involved. His caring, intuition and connection to people may not jump off the pages at one, until you take the time to 'feel' what he is doing, how he is doing it and why. I have witnessed him come in to the healing space and go and stand next to a person, then reach out and hold their hand. No prompt from us, he's following something only he perceives. And when the person whose hand he is holding starts to release, they talk about the 'love' and 'purity' of feeling they get from him. Here we are working on a man whose calves are extremely tender to the touch, to any touch. This, indicates old issues that have not been attended to. Most times these issues are to do with the relationship one has with the self. or more likely the relationship they DON'T have with the self. So using Kiwa and his weight was one way of gentling the situation. Were I to use my normal bodyweight pressure, our client would be clawing at the door to get out. Meaning it would have been too much for him to cope with. Having Kiwa soften this area, allowed me to start working with a medium pressure which by the time we'd finished with our clients legs we were working deeply on him. This area is important to release as I can tell just by doing the calves the quality of sleep the person is or isn't getting. [caption id="attachment_596" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Hard at work...."][/caption] Here you see Kiwa copying a move that he's seen us do many times. For his small size (and some assistance from his 'client') he pushes Beck's body in to moves that are about opening specific areas. What you cannot hear is that he is using his breath as the timer, so again he's learnt this from watching us and putting it in to action. This move is to open up the front of the groin, stretch the pelvic girdle, create heat in the muscles in the front of the thighs and the hamstrings. The pay off with this move is that the release will come with an emotional surge, and it's not unusual for the client to be reduced to tears. We missed the move Kiwa did just before this one.  He had the leg almost at chest level, and his pressure came from sitting on her thigh.  Not something we've done previously, so it showed his ability to think and then do. A young man happy in his work is a picture to behold.  And you know what else I found out, that when you give them the space to they will emulate all that you do.  So give them good food (positive re-enforcement) as well as good nourishment (grow them strong and healthy). This is the joy that our children bring with them. Encourage, inspire, envelope, enroll and love these beautiful beings.  They so deserve the greatness, the magnificence and the joy that comes from being truly enlivened by all that life has to offer. Rejoice if a child wants to know what is under your shirt. And share with them the truth and beauty of such a simple thing that is happening deep within. They will get it! Celebrate life!

The rau, rakau, are used when a specific energy is felt.  It is done with an intuitive knowing, that a tightly wound coil (emotion) needs release, and no other method be it mirimiri, romiromi, swedish massage, osteopathy, counseling, rolfing, reiki etc will bring it forth.

Accompanied by the 'intuitive knowing' is a kakara or haunga.  Most times it will be metallic, have an edge to it, like an acidic taste and will always end with tears that have been bottled up for years. It's become an emotional uncontrollable dam burst.

The rau, has a two fold blade.  The first being, it will aid and open a locked door (portal), the second, it will settle any rough waters internally.  Sometimes this is all that is needed in a session, so it comes back to one's discernment of the best tool to use.

When there are Elders who need the work, but cannot take the depth or the pressure, this is when the rau is best applied.  One branch, that is heavy with leaves is best.  Always seek permission of the tree first.  Then you are asking the tree to withdraw their energy from where you will 'take' the branch. When you have broken the branch of, always pani where the open wound is on the tree, even if it be just dirt that you place there.  When one uses nature in such a way, you become more aware and grateful of the tools that are so close to hand.

Each tree has a different vibration, and will enter the body in various ways.  The karaka tree, will go forth with a tap, tap, tap, until the muscles start to relax and let go.  When this happens you go right to the issue, whether they (the client) knows it or not.  Other tree branches like a willow,  pine, rangiora, etc go at their own paces.  No matter how fast or slow you want to enter, you really are lead in, not you doing the leading.  And when you get to these stages, well that is when magic happens, layers get peeled away and what people thought they had to keep to operate in this world, just collapses naturally.
